Pulse Oximetry Screening

While many of the effects of sleep apnea can be obvious, this is not always the case. Our dentist will also need to understand how severe your problem is in order to find the best treatment solution for you. Our office offers pulse oximetry screening in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, to help Dr. Martin Goebbel create an accurate diagnosis. If you would like to plan your screening, call The Better Sleep Center at 505-892-8600 today.

A pulse oximetry screening is extremely convenient and is conducted while you sleep. You will need to wear a small sensor that fits over the end of your finger, which is attached to a wrist recorder. The data from the sensor is transmitted to the wrist recorder and provides our dentist with information about your oxygen levels as you sleep. Our dentist will review this information to see if your oxygen levels significantly drop during sleep. This drop in oxygen is also known as desaturation. A desaturation level of 88% or less in adults is a cause for concern, and we will talk with you about lifestyle changes that you may need to make and review your treatment options.

If you have concerns about sleep apnea for yourself or someone in your family, call our office at 505-892-8600 and speak with a member of our team.
